T’S been a bit of an up and down few weeks on the fish­ing front for match an­glers. took sec­ond with 278-7-0 and Keith Harper third on 252-12-0.

Stay­ing in the South, SSP Tyler’s Com­mon has been in prime form for weeks, and the Es­sex wa­ter’s reg­u­lar Satur­day open served up a trio of 300lb nets, headed by Bernie Fraser with 349-0-0 from the mar­gins.

An­drew Far­ley and Alec Roberts joined in with 346-0-0 and 309-8-0, re­spec­tively. An­drew also cracked the triple ton at Pud­dle­dock Farm mid­week with 303-8-0 from the Snake Lake.

Heron­brook Fish­eries can al­ways be re­lied on for top sport, and Frankie Gianon­celli en­joyed two ac­tion-packed days at the Slin­don com­plex, win­ning the Sun­day open with 222-3-0 off the Bridge Pool just 24 hours af­ter tak­ing sec­ond in the Maver Match This qual­i­fier with 151-7-0.

Adam Richards won the day and took the final spot with 198-13-0 from the Meadow Pool.

Records tum­bled at Jan­son’s Fish­ery near Not­ting­ham as Colin Spencer crashed out 278-2-0 of carp on paste to set a new lake record for the Mun­roes Pool – while at York­shire’s Oaks Fish­ery, paste ex­pert Phil Sel­lars notched up two more wins with 311-6-0 in mid­week and 233-6-0 on Sun­day from the Ash Lake us­ing his favourite bait.

Also notch­ing up dou­ble tons around the coun­try were Les Mar­shall, with 242-12-0 from Hall­croft Fish­ery’s Reed Pool
