MATT MAKES FINAL FOR SECOND YEAR RUNNING
Paste in the margins seals win with carp to 17lb
Maver Match This qualifier Daiwa Hallcroft Fishery (110 pegs)
MATT Arnold (above) bagged his place in the final for the second year running, thanks to a 161-1-0 total.
The Lincolnshire angler qualified last year at the venue and showed it was far from a fluke as he worked his way to the winning weight from peg 16 on the island of Bridge Pool.
Starting shallow on caster, he soon had 50lb in the net, but it was a switch to paste in the margins that really got him motoring and helped him find some giant carp to 17lb.
Chris Kitchin was really struggling to line up the fish from peg 74 on the outer bank of Moat Pool.
But the shoals rocked up in the margins in the last hour and he took advantage of this late bonus to bag up in style, amassing 120-1-0 to take second place.
Result: 1 M Arnold, Lincs, 161-1-0; 2 C Kitchin, Leeds, 120-1-0; 3 P Wright, Halkon Hunt, 104-6-0; 4 O Stringer, Leeds, 95-15-0; 5 F Gianocelli, Preston Innovations, 85-10-0; 6 C Owen, Mexborough, 83-10-0.
