POLE TO HAND ESSENTIALS

Angling Times (UK) - - TIPS & TACTICS -

1 A heavy pole float is required to allow you to swing the rig into place. Try a 0.4g Drennan AS but make sure the tip is well dotted down.

2 Bronze maggots are underused on commercials but they tend to pick out the better stamp roach, bream, tench and perch.

3 Feeding every drop-in is very important but don’t introduce too many maggots each time. Throwing around 10 maggots around the float every cast is more than ample.

4 Use light but balanced tackle with the pole to hand. Rig up a 0.13mm mainline to an 0.11mm hooklength and a size 18 hook.

5 Silvers are the target but carp and F1s may show up too. If they do, continue to feed while you play them to keep the shoal occupied.
