THE EXPERT’S VIEW

CRAIG BANKS

Angling Times (UK) - - CARP NEWS -

YOU’VE not known true tedium until you have stripped and respooled a set of carp reels. It really is the least enjoyable job in fishing.

However, experienced carper Craig Banks has come up with an ingenious way to make the stripping part of the process quick and easy.

The Carp Study Group member fixes a fizzy-drink bottle to an electric drill and wraps the old line around the body of the bottle.

He said: “It’s a simple line stripper. Put a nut and bolt through the lid, then use the same lid and change the bottle when you’re done.”

A spool of old line can be stripped very quickly with this method, and a new bottle can be attached to the lid for the next one.

As with any job involving an electric drill, Craig advises taking your time and exercising caution with this method.

Now if only there was an automated way of loading new line on to your spools…
