LOW water levels and bright, hot weather are far from ideal conditions for river fishing.
But there’s usually one fish you can guarantee a bite or two from under all conditions – the chub!
You can catch old rubber lips in all sorts of places – next to weed rafts, streamer weed, overhanging trees, undercut banks and in water barely inches deep. They’ll take just about any bait going, from the standard fare of maggots, casters, worms, bread, pellets, boilies and luncheon meat to slugs, snails, cheese, sea baits, locusts, lures and steak.
