What’s the secret to a bag on the bomb and pellet?

Angling Times (UK) - - TIPS & TACTICS -

I RARELY get bites on bomb and pellet on commercials. What am I doing wrong?

THE bomb and pellet is unbeatable on a lot of waters at this time of year but you have to keep very busy if you want to make the most of it.

Clipping up is important on a tactic like the Method, but on the bomb you want to explore plenty of water, and pinpoint accuracy isn’t that important.

The fish are attracted to the noise, so regular feeding over the top of where your rig has landed is vital.

Aim to fire out five 8mm pellets every 30 seconds and don’t let that rhythm break all day long.

Regular casting can also score heavily, and some of the best anglers won’t think twice about casting every couple of minutes to make extra noise that draws in the fish.

Use 6lb mainline and a 0.16mm or 0.18mm hooklength to a size 16 hook for carp to double figures.

A banded 8mm pellet is usually the best hookbait.

Regular feeding is essential for this tactic.
