Where are all those chub?
EVERY time I fish a river for chub with cheesepaste the water looks lifeless. Where could these fish be hiding?

SMALL, clear and shallow rivers often seem devoid of fish but look in the right places and you’ll be amazed at what they hold.
Look for areas where there is a slight change of depth. If the river drops from a foot to two foot, you can guarantee that fish will be held up in spots like this.
Undercut banks are also well worth investigating, as fish look for cover.
Fishing legered bread or cheesepaste tight to the bank while staying well back from the edge can often produce a big chub seemingly from nowhere.
Clear rivers hold deceptively large numbers of fish.
