These selfish fools are putting waters at risk

Angling Times (UK) - - YOUR FISHING WEEK -

IT’S great to see that more anglers appear to be taking steps to help prevent diseases such as KHV spreading, but I still see some that aren’t doing their bit.

My local fishery allows you to park behind your peg, and I regularly see people take their kit

out, set up their seatbox and then chuck their keepnet in straight away, moments after it has come out of a stink bag that could harbour all sorts of infections.

Drying your nets out on the bank for a while before you start fishing is no hardship, and the arrogance of some people who don’t bother to take this simple step really does annoy me.

They don’t seem to care what happens to the fishery once they have gone, as long as they catch a shedload of fish there and then.

If their nets passed on a killer disease they’d soon have to look for someone else to bag up. Richard Charles, Boston
