VOLUNTEERS GO ON PATROL WITH POLICE AND EA
KEVIN Pearson, the Trust’s regional enforcement manager in the Midlands, together with a team of volunteer bailiffs, took part in joint patrols on waterways in Nottinghamshire recently to crack down on illegal fishing.
They joined the county’s police and Environment Agency fisheries staff to check out those fishing a number of pools and stretches of the River Trent from Gunthorpe and East Bridgford to Newark-on-Trent.
Of more than 30 anglers checked on the day, two were reported for not having a rod licence, one person was arrested for obstructing the police, and two untaxed and uninsured vehicles were seized and towed away.
