PETE UPPERTON: Mega Match Win
32
MATCHMAN Pete Upperton became the envy of competition anglers across the nation when he banked the biggest single prize in the history of UK match fishing.
The Middy-backed rod cashed in £65,000 after winning the Maver Mega Match This final held at Larford Lakes in Worcestershire.
The 32-year-old plasterer from Surrey banked 48-920kg from peg 20 on the Match Lake to finish ahead of Frankie Gianoncelli, whose 40-760kg was enough for second.
Targeting the margins with meat, Pete fished single or double cubes to take a string big carp.
