Lee Ri­ley at­tacked the mar­gins and 5m line of peg 19 with pel­let, and wasn’t far be­hind on 95-13-0.

Long pole and pel­let from peg 41 on Canal Pool soon had the carp and F1s queu­ing up. Jake Robin­son also scored well with 156-9-0 from Bridge peg 18 to the same tac­tic.

When the cham­pion drew peg 2 on Covey Canal One he fished down the track and to the far bank for F1s to 3lb, ide and a few carp. Brides­maid on peg one was Des Green­hough on 68-7-0.

RIVER AIRE CHAMPS (SUN) River Aire, Brad­ford AA wa­ter (92 pegs) There was a bril­liant turnout for this an­nual en­counter, and Rob Lee got his name into the his­tory books with 21-8-0. The river fished well in parts and the Leeds man made the most of a good draw, tak­ing nine bream on the ground­bait feeder with worm from peg 14 on the Brad­for­downed stretch of water­way.

Phil Austin used an iden­ti­cal ap­proach on the next peg to plun­der seven fish from the shoal for a 19-6-0 to­tal.

Carp to 8lb came to the net from peg 30, with both pel­let wag­gler and straight lead putting a bend in the rod. Ev­ery fish was vi­tal as Dave Fair­field was within a whisker of win­ning and ended up with 75-10-0 from peg 45.

Pel­let short helped him catch carp to 4lb, with sec­ond-placed Phil Sel­lars also in top bag­ging form as he fin­ished with 333-13-0. TYNE CHAMPS (SUN) River Tyne (72 pegs) An all-out sil­ver­fish at­tack saw Karl Rob­son bag the sil­ver­ware and a hand­some pay­out. Float­fished mag­gots helped the Het­ton Lyons man bank plenty of roach and dace for 21-3-0. Martin Hope was kept equally busy, but couldn’t quite top­ple the win­ner with his 19-6-0 of dace.

Plenty of roach fell to caster on the 11m line from peg 677, but it was the 6m line from which he plun­dered the five qual­ity bream that sep­a­rated him from the 11-4-8 of run­ner-up Jim Walker.
