Roy Worth was unstoppable this time around and included numerous double-figure carp in his 330-5-0 bag, taken on pellet from peg 86 on Cary. Campbell Lake’s best weight of the day came from peg 126, where Steve Shaw took second place overall with 237-10-0.

MEDWAY TACKLE PAIRS Bough Beech (24 pegs) Long-distance feederfishing is usually the name of the game on big reservoirs, but Richard Taylor fished within metres of the bank to land a winning 31-12-0. The Drennan angler fished long pole and maggot and managed to keep redfins to 1lb coming throughout. He was also part of the winning pair, with him and third-placed Geoff Vallance recording a perfect two-point tally.

OXFORD SUMMER LEAGUE River Thames, Folly Bridge & Medley (42 pegs) Drennan Oxford Yellow had a double celebration after they were announced winners on the day and also league champions having accumulated 231 points. The fishing for the final round was also good and Tony Hobbs, of the winning squad, took individual honours with 19-5-0. This was his third win in six contests in the series. He used worm and caster on the long pole from peg 2 below Poplars at Medley for two bream and plenty of roach and perch. Steve Townsend was runner-up with 15-8-0 from the bottom end peg in the same stretch.

PUDDLEDOCK FISHERY (WEDS) Snake Lake (21 pegs) The margins were the place to target in this match and John Hunt did it in style with 199-0-0. He may have narrowly missed out on the double ton, but that didn’t really matter as banded pellet helped him extract carp to 12lb from peg 92. This gave him a comfortable cushion of more than 60lb over the nearest chllenger.

PUDDLEDOCK FISHERY Snake Lake (32 pegs) John Hunt made it a double for the week with a 176-4-0 catch. Having bagged down the margins in the midweek open, the Brentwood angler used the same approach. It did him proud once again, as fish to double figures fell to banded pellet fished in the edge of peg 10. Micky Hood went one better than in the midweek fixture, taking second place with 145-2-0.
