BIG CARP ON PELLET WAG AND POLE

Angling Times (UK) - - WHERE TO FISH MIDLANDS -

IF YOU want to experience explosive action with doublefigure carp on the pole, Earlswood Lakes is the water to head to this week.

Match and pleasure anglers fishing the Engine Pool at the West Midlands venue have been reporting carp in excess of 24lb, with plenty of smaller specimens too.

The match record is over 400lb here, so you won’t have to wait hours between bites. There are 105 pegs on this 25-acre lake, but the most popular swims are numbers 5-25 near the car park. Pole anglers have caught well on big pellets and meat, but if you prefer a rod and line approach opt for a pellet waggler.

Keep flicking in pellets and fish a larger version, say 8mm, over the top.

The pool also contains a good head of bream for those who prefer silverfish. PRICES: £7 a day, £5 concessions, available on the bank CONTACT: 01582 843454, or 07906 798610 LOCATION: Earlswood Lakes, Malthouse Lane, Earlswood, Warks, B94 5RZ (parking is on the car park on this lane) RULES: Barbless only, one rod limit, no night fishing, no Method feeders on the pole
