The Derwent on form for specimens
THIS prolific stretch of the Derwent on the edge of Derby is a big-fish haven, with barbel to 17lb, chub to over 6lb, tench, bream, dace, roach, specimen perch and some huge pike.
Late summer going into autumn is a great time to try both static and roving tactics here, using bomb and PVA bags or rolling meat for the barbel and chub.
Do not discount the float, though, as a Chubber, Avon or stick float can work wonders for a mix of species. CONTACT: Nathans of Derby, 01332 515353 PRICES: £5 from Nathans, Earl of Harrington’s AC
