TARGET SILT AND LIGHT WEED

IF ALL the anglers on your lake are targeting the clear, gravelly areas, the fish will soon wise up to this and associate such spots with danger.

So, try targeting the slightly silty, weedy areas with a rig made to suit, such as a pop-up or a chod rig. Carp are used to grubbing about for their food, so don’t be fooled into thinking that your bait needs to be on a hard, clean area for the fish to find it.

If the weed is a little too thick for fishing a pop-up or bottom bait, try using a solid PVA bag, which ensures perfect presentation.
