Why should a bream angler have to pay carp fishing prices?

Angling Times (UK) - - YOUR FISHING WEEK -

I LIVE in Ellesmere, Shropshire, and we are surrounded by fishing lakes known as meres. As a disabled angler I am disgusted at the prices we are being asked to pay to fish these. The local club charges £135-plus per year.

These prices are for carp anglers, but as I can no longer carp fish I have turned to daytime match-style fishing. However, I still love to fish for bream. Now the meres are full of these but I feel that my local club is only interested in carp anglers and not those who want to fish during the day.

I have tried to contact the club and have not had a reply to a number of emails. I have also found out that it has no insurance for disabled anglers and that it has now stopped issuing day tickets.

The Shropshire meres are natural waters and should be available for everyone to fish. The people who run the club are ruining it for everyone, in my opinion. Dave Mohrhardt, email
