Shakespeare men dominated this match, taking the top three but only two qualifying spots. Steve Williams, Paul Bick and Tony Noke will fish November’s Wye final. Steve won with 81-6-0 of chub from a peg at Breinton, where he fished waggler and maggot tight across to a far-bank glide. Paul, on Eign, fished blockend feeder with hemp and caster for 74-8-0 of chub and barbel to finish second.

A new record for this event was set by Steve Maher as the Sensas WB Clarke found 10 barbel plus a lone bream from peg 83 for 69-8-0 on long pole and caster. Runner-up and team-mate Ian Winter, on peg 58, was second with 28-0-0 of chub on waggler and maggot.

CROSS DROVE FISHERY QUALIFIER FINAL (SAT & SUN) Hockwold (63 pegs)
Qualifiers from across the spring and summer lined up for this two-day final, and after a poor first day Nathan Moore rocketed into top spot to take the £1,000 first prize with an aggregate weight of 107-2-0. Second was Stewart Bracey on 101-10-0. Stewart won day one with 76-3-0 of carp to 12lb, plus F1s, from peg 69, fishing catmeat and corn at 14.5m. Nathan took day two with 101-11-0 of carp and F1s on corn and catmeat at 13m from peg 22.

Shakespeare opened up this league with victory on 19 points and also had the top individual in Darren Lewis, who took 35-2-0 of skimmers from his Rose Bush peg on chopped worm and caster at 14m.

The Yare remains in good form for bream, and Carl Redgrave won this contest from hot peg 157 at Langley with 69-4-0 of bream and skimmers on groundbait feeder, worm and maggot. Second was Daiwa Angling Direct team mate Simon Newman with 39-12-0 of bream and skimmers on feeder and worm at peg 145.

The Northern team showed the Southerners how it’s done. Adam Rumble of Maver Midlands won with 153-9-0 of F1s and carp taken shallow on pellet at 13m and 6m from peg 22 on the Extension Pool. Maver Gold man Brad Parkes replied with 133-10-0 on pellet at 13m off peg 48 on the High Pool.

Three late bream secured the title for Sensas man Darran Bickerton. Added to 5lb of small fish, they gave him 16-15-0 and the £300 first prize. He fished groundbait feeder with worm and maggot at peg 84. Runner-up Jason Scrivener had 10-10-0 of mainly perch on chopped worm and caster at 9m.

An influx of cold water from the River Nene saw the lakes in poor form. Just 38-7-0 won it for Ripley rod Sean Stokes at peg 116 on Overton Lake, where he found bream to 6lb plus skimmers on groundbait feeder and worm. Harry Murphy used the same attack on peg 114 for 37-5-0.

MAP-backed Aidan Mansfield took the Sunday honours from peg 31 on the House Pool with an impressive 147-9-0 net of F1s taken on maggot fished shallow at 6m and then across to the island at 16m. Second place went to Matt Bingham with 138-2-0.
