FEED LIGHTLY
MANY swims on clear rivers are ruined in the first half-hour of a session. This is a critical time of a match or pleasure angler and it’s important to feel your way in steadily rather than feed to try and catch 50lb straight away.
By building your swim up little and often rather than with big handfuls every cast, you will soon start to read what species are feeding and if they’re hungry.
I always try to feed to response so if bites keep coming, I keep the fed going in, increasing it slightly as the session goes on.
Remember, you can always put more in but you can’t take it out!
Feed little and often or you could kill a swim.
