Ringer’s pellet secrets revealed

Angling Times (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

“PELLETS will catch as many, if not more, fish than maggots and worms.” So said England International Phil Ringer, and backed up that statement with this fine bag of hard-fighting carp caught live for the Improve Your Coarse Fishing cameras.

The 38-year-old Northants rod was fishing Bishops Bowl in Warwickshire in a session with Angling Times’ sister title, demonstrating the different types of pellet available and how to use them effectively.

And with numerous fish landed in just a few hours, the biggest of which was well in excess of 20lb, Phil did exactly that.

“The more fish see pellets, the more they get on them,” he said.

“This is even starting to happen on natural waters such as canals and rivers, where more and more pellets are being fed by specimen hunters, matchmen and pleasure anglers alike.”
