CHOOSE THE CORRECT ROD AND REEL

Angling Times (UK) - - TIP & TACTICS -

Rods are like golf clubs – you should use different ones to cast different distances. You wouldn’t use a sand wedge to drive 200 yards and likewise you wouldn’t use a 10ft rod to cast 70 yards! If I want to cast 70 yards I’ll go for a 12ft 8ins Preston Dutch Master Method and if I want to cast even further than this, up to 100 yards, I’ll pick up the 13ft 8ins Dutch Master.

With these long rods go for a larger reel too, because bigger spools mean more line comes off at a time.

Replace your 3000 and 4000 sized reels with, say, a 5000 version.
