Fair play to Rob Hales and captor of Big Rig
THE potential new carp record has divided a lot of opinion and the captor and owner of the fish have certainly come in for stiff criticism from some quarters.
But I say fair play to Rob Hales for fronting up the flack he has faced with his interview he gave in last week’s Angling Times.
I personally think Rob has done nothing wrong, and is only catering for the huge demand out there for bigger and bigger carp.
There isn’t an angler alive that wouldn’t want to catch a British record fish, and Rob has now given them that opportunity by rearing this stunning fish.
Just because Rob is innovative and forward-thinking doesn’t mean he should be hammered by the dinosaurs that are stuck in the era of Redmire Pool and Chris Yates’ record carp – another foreign-bred fish, of course. Neil Barden, email
