TOP 5 TIPS
Generally, mullet prefer the riverbed at low tide and flooded bays over high water.
Don’t fish too light. Mullet are fearsome fighters so my standard feeder tackle is an Avon rod and 10lb mainline.
Check a tide table and know when high and low water occurs – this will have a huge impact on where you fish.
Trotting bread flake is another great tactic for mullet. For this I use 6lb mainline and a large Loafer float.
Use a wide gape hook with bread flake, which should be the size of a 20p piece. Squeeze it gently around the shank so the bread is still fluffy on the bend.
