Many lures come pre-loaded with dif­fer­ent flavours and oils, from fishy smells to aniseed. In fact, the range of dif­fer­ent flavours is so var­ied that you have to won­der if they are more of a mar­ket­ing ploy than ac­tu­ally of­fer­ing any real ad­van­tage. I have found that salt does ap­pear to in­crease the num­ber of bites I get and so I have started adding a sprin­kling of rock salt gran­ules to my packs of lures to give them an edge. The longer that you leave the lures be­fore us­ing them the bet­ter as this gives the salt time to bind to the soft plas­tic.
