Barbel is worth the wait

Angling Times (UK) - - WELCOME -

A DECISION to stay put paid off handsomely for Malc Hough when he took this 16lb 8oz personal-best barbel from the River Trent.

The Cheshire-based angler had spent the night on the river with a couple of friends, and when they decided to head to the River Dove the day after, Malc stuck to his guns and stayed on the Trent.

That proved to be a very wise move and just hours later the huge barbel had found his tiger nut boilie.

“I’d seen my friend Bill land a 14lb 7oz fish in the night and I could not help but think whether I would ever see one that big again,” explained Malc.

“To go and net one that was even bigger less than a day later was just a dream come true.”
