MY TOP TIPS
1 The leaders I use are of the E-S-P weedy green tapered kind, connected via a Mahin knot (above). Ensure all rig components can pass over this knot for the sake of the carp. 2 With a naked chod I overweight my pop-ups so they sink at the same rate as a free offering. If you critically balanced the chod it could get hung up on weed strands and sit off the bottom. 3 When chod fishing, scatter your boilies over a wider area than you would with other methods to get the carp searching. 4 Use a pop-up that will lose a minimum amount of buoyancy when submerged. To help with this, tie them on with bait floss – I use the Sticky Bait range. 5 Don’t fish a tight mainline, especially when fishing at close range, otherwise the rig won’t lie correctly.
