FANCY A DAY WITH BARBEL OR BIG CHUB?
RIVER WYE, HOME FISHERY, WELSH BICKNOR
IF YOU’D like to experience some truly epic autumn fishing this month you could do no better than take a trip to the River Wye.
One of the most in-form and beautiful sections of the waterway is the stunning Angling Dreams-run stretch known as Home Fishery.
Here, shallow runs and deep pools filled with big barbel,
pike and chub await anglers who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of their local commercial fishery.
The great thing about this venue is that you can try pretty much any running water tactic you wish. Angling Times’ Mark Peck has personally visited the venue recently.
He says: “I caught some really nice barbel and quality chub fishing the shallow runs using a large Avon float with cubes of luncheon meat.
“My colleagues Ian Jones and Mark Parker netted numerous barbel to near double figures by fishing both the feeder or bomb with pellets and boilies further up the stretch on the pegs where the river bends.
“The fishing is great and the scenery is truly amazing here.”
