HOW do I choose the right hook every time?

Angling Times (UK) - - FRONT PAGE -

OF ALL the components that make up a rig, the hook is the most important.

If the hook is too light, it will bend out of shape or even snap. Too heavy, and the hookhold might not be perfect and presentation while waiting for a bite will suffer.

There are many things to look for when choosing which hook to use, including target species and size, and bait and method being used. As a general rule, always go for barbless hooks (although check fishery rules).

Moment of truth for any hook as a fish nears the net.
