A 34lb RECORD TROUT
FLOATFISHED maggots have been responsible for the capture of Britain’s biggest ever rainbow trout which tipped the scales at an incredible 34lb 12oz.
The fish, that will set a new British record, if it’s accepted by the British Record Fish Committee (BRFC), was caught by Michael Mitchell, from Coatbridge, when he fished Scotland’s Loch Earn.
It measured some 38ins in length with a girth of more than 26ins and was beaten with the help of 10lb line and a size 14 hook.
Two landing nets were broken
in an attempt to bring the huge fish on to the boat.
The specimen took the bait that was presented beneath a bubble float at the western end of Ardveich Bay.
