Fish O’Mania champion and Docklow regular Andy May:

Angling Times (UK) - - WHERE TO FISH -

Tackle: “Light rigs are really important and going overgunned will result in far fewer bites. When fishing the short pole or waggler in open water, use an 0.10mm hooklength to a size 18 hook. If you are fishing for the chub close to any snags, step up to an 0.12mm hooklength.”

Baits: “Maggots and casters are all you need, but little-and-often feeding is crucial. White maggots are brilliant for chub but I find that feeding casters over the top draws a better stamp of fish into the area.”

Tactics: “Start fishing on the deck and use a strung-out shotting pattern so that you can still get bites as the bait drops through the water slowly. If you start to miss bites, shallow up by a few inches and keep doing that until you start hooking fish.”

Docklow holds plenty of big roach.
