LOOKOUT LAKE (43 PEGS)
THE best lake on site for catching not big weights and multiple species too; you can expect to catch over 10 species here using several tactics.
Surprisingly, anglers are still catching shallow and down the edge – with some of the recent match winners employing these tactics to good effect. Local angler John Foster won a recent open with 139lb 5oz of carp and silverfish from peg 16a by fishing paste down his near side and the pellet waggler at distance – so don’t be inclined to start fishing on the deck just yet.
John also won another match from peg 1 with 112lb 15oz of carp, tench, bream, ide and roach. Other bang in-form pegs are 5 and 28, where anglers in a recent match fished shallow with caster, pellet and paste in the margins for weights of 113lb and 97lb respectively.
Alternatively, the feeder is a great method on this lake, with many anglers making the most of the far bank margins for the big carp, bream and tench. Almost any bait on the hook works, although dead maggots tend to produce more bites from all species.
