TWO BLACK COUNTRY LADS SHINE
Easy win on points after consistent performance
ANGLING TRUST/CANAL & RIVER TRUST CANAL PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS FINAL (SAT)
THIS final drew 72 pairs from qualifiers around the UK, all fishing for the big prize.
That went the way of Sensas Black Country duo Steve Dudley and Simon Nickless, just months after they helped their side win the Division Two National.
Steve and Simon scored a combined 140 points to finish 13 in front of Rob and Paul
Durrant. Steve weighed in 8-500 to score 72 points, while Simon took 4-460 for 68 points. Steve drew peg A48, a good peg below the wood, while Simon ended up in a bay at peg B60 behind the moat house – another decent peg but time would tell!
Skimmers were Steve’s target and he caught them to 12oz on pinkie and squatt fished over groundbait with minced worms, dead pinkies and squatts. Simon had roach and skimmers on pinkie and caster at 6m before going out to 14m when the shorter line slowed.
