When the river is hold­ing some colour but not yet reached its limit it is likely to have a fairly steady flow. Once again, a bait that has plenty of scent is im­por­tant, and un­der these con­di­tions chub are likely to be a pop­u­lar tar­get. The great­est chub bait in coloured wa­ter is cheese paste. A large lump the size of a 50p coin will be eas­ily de­voured by any chub. The big­ger your hook­bait, the more flavours will be re­leased to draw the chub in.
