Angling Times (UK) - - TIPS & TACTICS -

Enhance your maggots with Nutrabaits Sweet Nutraspice. One capful to three pints of maggots is plenty. Less can be more – like vinegar on chips.

Spend time casting around to try to find a bit of smooth, not-too-stony gravel.

Use a feeder carrying enough weight to provide a bolt-rig effect so the fish hook themselves.

Plagued by ‘bits’? Keep plugging away. The bigger roach will eventually arrive.

Set your hangers high, so a pull in the direction of the rod immediately sets the hook. A pull in any other direction sets it against the feeder.

When weighing a big roach, don’t set the sling to ‘zero’ on the scales. Set them to 1lb and deduct that from the final weight.
