A tale of two fisheries – guess which is thriving

Angling Times (UK) - - YOUR FISHING WEEK -

I FISH two commercials regularly and the difference in mentality between the two owners is staggering.

One is well and truly stuck in his ways. He charges £8 a day, and no matter how quiet it gets in the winter he refuses to budge on his prices. Funnily enough, visitor numbers start to drop at this time of year and that’s when he starts to complain!

My other local is owned by a younger chap well in touch with modern-day trends. He reduces ticket prices in winter, runs schemes throughout the year to try and get new faces on the complex and gives loyal clubs who book a certain number of matches each year a free event. It doesn’t take a genius to guess which fishery is currently struggling and which is still selling a lot of tickets every week. Tim Morgan, Bromsgrove
