In the Swim We reveal three deadly chub rigs you’ve got to try on the rivers

Angling Times (UK) - - WELCOME -

IT’S all well and good identifying where in the swim you plan to fish for chub on a river, but can you be sure that your rig is working to maximum effect once the cast is made?

With chub being such obliging fish, the angler is faced with plenty of options when it comes to picking a way to catch this popular river fish in colder weather – but there are some that can be ruled out from the word go when clear water and low river levels are factored into the equation.

You’ll still be able to fish a static bait, using a sit-and-wait approach or a running line to cover as much of the swim as possible, searching every square inch of the water – but how big should your float be? Which feeder is best? What should go on the hook? They’re all important questions to get right…
