I’M a big believer in trying to give my bait a boost in the cold and the best way I have found to do this is by using a bait additive called ‘Goo’.

This additive attracts by making a cloud and by putting flavour into the water, but it does come with a warning from me – don’t use too much!

Less really is more with this powerful attractor and a blob the size of a pea added to the loaded Method or Hybrid feeder is all you need.

I use the nozzle on the bottle to spread it about a little so that it doesn’t come off on the cast.

Flavour-wise I prefer Tutti Frutti or Pineapple. It’s important to make sure you get the Power Smoke versions because they are thicker and stick to pellets a lot better.

For deep water, where I may want a slower release of the additive, I seal it in with a layer of pellets. I do this by adding my hookbait and a few pellets to the mould, then placing a small Goo blob on them and covering with more pellets before pressing the feeder into the mould.

You only need a small blob of Goo.
