32lb THAMES MIRROR TOPS TRIP TO REMEMBER
New best backed by pb barbel and specimen chub
FREE-FISHING stretch of the River Thames provided Connor Bovingdon with this impressive mirror as part of a multispecimen hit.
The 32lb 8oz fish came during a 24-hour session that also produced barbel of 14lb and 12lb, plus a string of chub to over 5lb.
It was a new Thames personal best for the 20-year-old from Ascot, Berkshire, and was the culmination of a prebaiting campaign.
Connor told Angling Times: “I had the bite at 3am and it was a really hard-fighting fish. It beats my previous Thames pb of 28lb and I also had a new pb barbel and a few chub, so it was a really active trip – on my next trip I also managed a 22lb 2oz mirror.
“I fish the river on and off, but like to target the Thames when the summer weather wears off and the river has some colour. I had prebaited the spot heavily with particles for a couple of weeks and fished 1kg of Sticky Krill boilies over each rod during my session.
“The fish came from a sandy area in the middle of the river in about 11ft of water.”
Duct fitter Connor presented Sticky Krill and White Chocolate pop-ups on blow back rigs.
The 32ln 8oz mirror fell to a pop-up presented on a blow back rig.
