WORM AND CASTER
6 A BRILLIANT bait combo at this time of the year, worm and caster will catch just about any fish that swims. Most anglers would fish these baits on the pole, but they work equally well fished on a light wand of a rod and a tiny feeder cast tight to islands and down the edge.
Don’t chop your worms too finely. Leave the pieces about three-quarters of an inch long for a more substantial feed. You can use a small blockend feeder, but I prefer to use a small cage and block off each end with a small quantity of red groundbait.
Try a half-worm and caster cocktail on the hook.
CHOPPED WORM Don’t chop the worms too fine. Pieces around three-quarters of an inch long are about right.
HOOKBAIT Half a worm on the hair and a caster on the hook is a combination hookbait few fish species can resist.
