10 ALL baits appear a lot brighter underwater, especially when viewed against the lakebed, so it pays to darken up your groundbaits, especially if the water is clear.

Fish will tend to be a little unsettled over light-coloured groundbaits, so if I am fishing on the deck a dark mix is always used.

Many popular groundbaits are also available in a black version, and these are the ones to go for at this time of year.
