WHITE MAGGOTS FOR ROACH

Angling Times (UK) - - TIPS & TACTICS -

8 STILLWATER roach are almost like a different species compared to those in running water. While river roach have quite a wide taste in baits, for stillwater specimens I take only white maggots. A Kamasan Black Cap feeder and helicopter rig baited with three grubs is as complex as it gets.

If the water is deep, or I just want the feeder to empty slowly, I will pack the maggots tightly into the feeder. I also riddle off any bran or maize and feed just maggots as the pale coloured meal can spook the fish. Try pepping your maggots up with a teaspoonful of pineapple flavouring per pint of neat bait.
