THE cold and wet weather may have knocked the weights at many commercial fisheries, but not so at the incredibly prolific Orchard Place Farm in Kent. There, four clubs enjoyed summer-like weights.

Best of the lot were the men of The Wednesday Club. Their midweek match saw a winning 182-0-0 of carp for Jordan Briant who fished maggot. Geoff Davis was second on 164-0-0. The fishing was just as good for Medway Trotters as Dean Fish bagged 175-8-0 of F1s on maggot to win.

Things were a little less hectic for CESAS and White Hart Dagenham when they arrived but a ton was still needed to win both matches. Andy Parker took the CESAS event with 101-5-0 of F1s on pellet while Terry Bush topped the White Hart match with 116-14-0 of maggot-caught F1s.

Some rivers were equally impressive, especially the River Mole in Surrey where extra water saw big fish make the running in the Dorking AS match, Garry Sharpless weighing in 64-2-0 of bream on pole and bomb with maggot to win easily.
