Furzton on top form for roach action

RECOMMENDED FURZTON LAKE, MILTON KEYNES

-

MOST people see Furzton Lake as a specimen carp water, but the Milton Keynes venue has produced some remarkable bags of roach in recent weeks. During a recent three-day Irishstyle festival anglers sacked up with quality redfins on the pole, with individual fish topping 1lb.

The top weights have fallen to caster and maggot hookbaits, but start your session by feeding balls of groundbait at around 11m-13m. A strung-out shotting pattern will make sure that your hookbait falls slowly through the water layers, allowing the fish to intercept it at any depth.

Use maggots or casters on the hook and keep firing out freebies on a regular basis. PRICES: £6 adults, £3.50 concessions CONTACT: Milton Keynes Angling Centre on 01908 374400 LOCATION: Furzton Lake, Shirwell Crescent, Milton Keynes, MK4 1GA RULES: No littering, all fish to be returned to the lake
