Rivers have so much to offer to those who’ve not tried them
IT WAS great to see the river fishing season end on such a high, as the weather usually has a tendency to cause havoc in the closing few days.
In recent seasons barbel seem to have dominated the river fishing scene, but it has been really refreshing to see other species finally getting some serious attention from anglers.
I’ve lost count of the number of big chub, perch and pike I have seen caught from running waterways in recent weeks, and there have been plenty of good silverfish hauls too.
It just goes to show that our rivers are alive and kicking, with a wide variety of species, and this can only prove helpful in trying to convince people who are addicted to commercials that our natural waters can provide them with something that will take their fancy.
