THE venue’s silverfish-only matches have been a huge success, with anglers taking 50lb-plus nets of quality roach, skimmers, barbel and chub on natural baits.
Willow Lake is currrently the place to head, and the 10ft deep swims make for excellent sport on the pole, bomb or waggler. Popular tactics have been to fish two lines – one short at 6m with casters over groundbait, and another long with maggots over groundbait (pole tactics proving best for the latter).
Try switching to chopped worm for a bigger stamp of skimmers, and keep topping up your swim with groundbait after every few fish. Pegs in the teens to mid-twenties are the best best.
