THE RIG

Angling Times (UK) - - TIPS & TACTICS -

To cope with the weed and the anticipated size of fish, I went for 18lb line to which I attached an E-S-P safety clip with a 3oz weight attached. I moistened the tail rubber so it would detach with ease.

An 8ins brown Tungsten Loaded hooklength blended into the bottom, and a boom ensured the lead would kick away nicely. At the business end, I knotless-knotted a size 4 Cryogen Gripper hook with a piece of shrink tubing to create a line-aligner. The hair was long enough to discourage other species, as was the size of the bait, a 20mm Sticky Krill Tuff Ones. I nicked a PVA mesh bag of a dozen free offerings to a couple of rods.
