ANDY MAY’S TOP WAGGLER TIPS
If you are missing a lot of bites, strike a split second quicker. This will give the fish less time to eject the hookbait and lead to more silvers being hooked.
Start by fishing at dead depth but shallow up a couple of inches if you are struggling. This will take the hookbait out of any silt when it is on the bottom and make it more noticeable.
Choose a swim that has lots of open water to attack. Carp often hug the features, and the silvers will avoid these spots to enable them to feed without interference.
When using an insert waggler, carry a range of different coloured tips with you. This will enable you to switch and see the float in any light conditions.
Use a 13ft rod with a soft tip to help you pick the line up quickly and give you every chance of hitting even the most finicky of bites.
