guide to Peatling Pools

Malcolm, at three-quarters of an acre, goes down to 12ft in places. Summer pellet waggler fishing takes carp and F1s, but now it works for stillwater chub. Fish nudging 5lb can be caught from open water next to the island on the waggler with maggot, caster, chopped worm and 6mm pellets. On the early pegs you can reach the island margins with an 11m pole, and caster will catch lots of roach and the odd barbel to 9lb, a real bonus on pole gear. If the water temperature is up you can catch tench from the small back pool on corn or worm. For the perch, the reed-lined margins in the bend on the north bank hold fish to nearly 4lb. Spray maggots and fish worm on the hook or leger a whole prawn for these.
