River record-holder Ed­wards strikes again HERE­FORD AA RIVER WYE CHAMPS (SUN) River Wye, Here­ford (140 pegs)

FEW men have won this pres­ti­gious event twice, but Welsh in­ter­na­tional Lee Ed­wards can add that ac­co­lade to his fish­ing CV as the Maver rod, who won the champs with a mas­sive river record weight over a decade ago, topped 2017’s event with 71-9-0.

Draw­ing peg 77 at Bar­ton­sham, Lee fished the wag­gler with mag­got to net chub rang­ing from a few ounces up to 5lb, fin­ish­ing the day 10lb ahead of the chas­ing pack.

That was led by Cotswold An­gling’s Mick Bradley, an­other for­mer Wye Champs win­ner, who also fished wag­gler and mag­got to take chub and a cou­ple of bar­bel off the Brein­ton sec­tion to weigh in 61-6-0.

Re­sult: 1 L Ed­wards, Maver, 71-9-0; 2 M Bradley, Cotswold An­gling, 61-6-0; 3 P Bick, Daiwa Dork­ing, 50-2-0; 4 H Whit­tle, Sen­sas Star­lets, 48-6-0; 5 B Rigby, Shake­speare Bait-Tech, 38-8-0; 6 A Gra­ham, Oxford, 38-4-0.

Lee Ed­wards won with a catch weigh­ing 71-9-0.
