NO NEED TO DIG DEEP TO BAG UP ON QUARRY

Angling Times (UK) - - WHERE TO FISH -

THIS two-acre pool is a popular club match venue, and if recent results are anything to go by it’s easy to see why. Weights are consistently over 100lb, even now as the weather cools, while in the summer open matches are won with weights in excess of 300lb.

Carp are the main species, with mirrors and commons ranging from 2lb-20lb. The pick of the other species present includes some cracking roach and perch weighing over 2lb.

It is also possible to catch rudd and crucians.

We spoke to the venue to get their advice on tactics, and they said: “Many tactics work at the fishery so it really depends on the day. Banded pellet on the bomb, however, is a pretty good bet all year round for consistent carp bites.

“In the warmer weather the pellet waggler comes into its own, as does pole fished paste.

“The margins are also a great hotspot when the water is warm, and you can expect fish averaging 8lb-9lb by fishing tight to the bank.

“For silver fish the pole is the go-to method with baits such as maggots, corn and worm.”
