2

BOILIES – Many big chub are caught by barbel anglers using large boilies, therefore it makes sense to use these baits to single out the biggest fish.

3

FISH IN THE ‘TAIL’ OF FEATURES – If you’ve ever watched a shoal of chub, you will know that the biggest fish often sit at the back of the group. By casting to the tail end of bushes, trees or pools you’ll give yourself the best chance of putting your bait in front of a real specimen.

4

UNLIKELY STRETCHES – Some of the biggest chub have been caught from deep and slow-moving sections of rivers, and it can be worth targeting these unlikely-looking areas to find the biggest chub.

5

STAY MOBILE – Location is everything when targeting big chub, and there’s no point in sitting behind a motionless rod-tip. Bring the bare minimum of tackle and keep moving until you find the fish.
